Strange Quark is an artist studio by Polina Chizhova and James Stephen Wright
We specialise in creative approaches to emergent technologies and create artworks, environmental experiences, performative workshops and educational projects.
Our work focuses on communities, places and the environment.
Strange Quark won the University of Edinburgh’s Enterprise and Innovation award in 2020.
Polina is an artist and curator. She studied at UZH Zurich and the University of Edinburgh. She is currenlty a PhD researcher in Curating and Architecture at Manchester Metropolitan University, part of the Leverhulme Unit for the Design of the Cities of the Future (LUDeC).

James is an artist and technologist. He studied at Leeds College of Art before graduating with a BA (Hons) in Environmental Art and Sculpture from Glasgow School of Art in 2011. He also holds an MA in Contemporary Art from the University of Edinburgh.
He is currenlty a PhD researcher at Sunderland University in collaboration with the National Trust.
